This unique sign was installed in 1958 at the same time the lodge was built. Like the others, it was designed to attract travelers crossing the country by automobile. The sign was originally steel cabinet; the neon was added in 1960. This beauty exemplifies the mid-twentieth century signage along Arizona Rte. 84, Casa Grande Highway, today’s Miracle Mile. The Wayward Wind name on the sign evokes memories of the 1956 song recorded by Gogi Grant, which reached number one on the Billboard Charts in the same year. The lodge is currently operating as the Tucson Gospel Rescue Mission.
