The Flamingo
The historic Flamingo Hotel opened on January 24, 1954. The neon sign was added in 1963. The sign’s space-age design was influenced by the cultural changes beginning with the recent launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, Sputnik I, in 1957.

This is a sign that is part of a Wherigo I published in Tucson, Arizona. It was published in 2014, my first Wherigo of (currently) 30 I have published. There are about 6 beautiful historic neon signs within a half-mile area, so it can easily be walked.
